Whats with Western funded NGOs? Can any Expats throw some light ?

Today (friday-2nd march) one of the main stories carried on front pages in leading News Papers of India concerned NGOs funded by western countries, & the funds going towards funding agitations to  throttle the projects badly needed for India's growth & Indian economy.

One of them is reproduced here verbatim:

" CBI, police to probe NGOs involved in anti- nuke stir. [headline]

The government is readying its ammunition against non- governmental organisations (NGOs), which it suspects are using foreign funds to sponsor the ongoing agitation against the nuclear plant at Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu After North Block suspected serious financial irregularities by 12 related stories 77 foreign NGOS under watch, face visa woes NGOs in handling It is understood that these NGOs had received funds from the US and Scandinavian countries. Top government sources said a discreet yet comprehensive probe into NGOs allegedly involved in the Kudankulam nuclear plant agitation has identified a dozen of them suspected to be involved in falsification of documents diversion of funds and lack of transparency in financial dealings.  transparency in financia dealings The outcome of this probe was sent to home minister P Chidambaram and home secretary RK Singh a month ago. The matter was then referred to the foreigners division, which handles the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), 2010, for action. Show cause notices will be ssued on the basis of alleged discrepancies, it is learnt ** 's  sources also said an American nuclear equipment contractor had informed the highest officials that the US and European NGOs were behind the agitation against the Kudankulam plant.."

Another Leading Newspaper aslo says:

[Indian missions abroad given list of 77 suspected NGOs told to "monitor those when they apply for visa" ]

In light of above news reports, I was tempted to ask at this forum from expats living in India & working for various NGOs many of whome might be members here as well regarding:

1. their side of the story,

2. any insight they might have to the current controversy,

3. any first hand knowledge they have gained regarding the "initiative" - where it originated from to "decide" to use the NGO's funds in this manner (apart from organizing, also used to provide daily food packets to the people sitting at site doing the agitation)

4. any other stories of misappropriation of funds or misuse of funds by the people controlling the NGOs for activities that are not in consonance with the charter of the NGO etc.

5. share at the forum the difficulties now being faced by expats regarding visa "if any" on this account.

6. IF ANY DIFFICULTY ENCOUNTERED BY ANY EXPAT/ FOREIGN NATIONAL   (wanting to come to India through working in a NGO)  then THEN THE NAME OF THE  NGO be KINDLY POSTED HERE so that innocent persons wanting to come to India (& wanting to give their precious time & precious energies to remove some sufferings in our country) do not waste their valuable time trying to get VISA through those NGOs & inturn dont become a suspect in the eyes of the Indian Govt forever (for no fault of their's but of- the mischievous NGO)...

7. any other information relevant that may be of use to anyone regarding this issue.

---------------------------------

"If" any of these "suspect NGOs" come & post at this forum as part of their PR exercise (which you are extreeeemly good at), be assured WE WILL recognize you, & people will be told right here, for "we" are not corruptible with your scotch bottles & gifts that generate fancy stories in the Indian Media of the "outstanding" work you supposedly do ;-)  :D    Neither will be intimidated by your financial muscle (the media is talking of Rs.9000 Crores that is US$1.8 Billion of funds received by you guys !!!! Big Stakes !!!)  or fall out of honey traps (although welcome to try)  :D  this generation of Indians is Vigilant Citizen of India & considers itself an equal citizens of the world.

Ms/Mr Fancy & Froudulent NGO, we also know your intellect level, & the intellect level of the preety things you engage for your PR operations.... if you try we will blow your cover. We will also teach people how to blow your cover... So DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT !

& we know you'll be watching here...
For the expat community will be watching here either themselves or through a friend who read something about you at expat-blog. & this community is important to you we realized today for- "Funds & Manpower" & keeping the reputation for future Funds & "Growth" of Funds every year....

Everyone who reads this please also realize that the concerns shown are because

1. We the 1.2 Billion people of India need Growth & for that we need infrastructure which we are painstakingly trying to build that these kind of negative minded NGOs try at every possible corner to stop from happening.

2.when I say "Growth" I also mean-

i) Employment opportunity for 1.2 Billion Citizens (a formidable task) please realize I'm talking of employment opportunity for 1/5th of HUMANITY !!!

ii) not just employment but also our 1.2 Billion citizens need to "Dream" & "Dream Positive" for that Positivity will keep our society Vibrant & Happening !!

3. & their is no analogue in the History of Mankind as to what will happen if 1.2 Billion people had their Growth stopped....!!???

4. The west had 150 years of unbridled Industrial Revolution to raise the living standard of its people  before environmental laws regime kicked in to put brakes on growth.

5. But we Indians 1st screwed up by adopting "Socialism" (a deseased brother of communism) that throttled our growth for about 50 years after independence in 1947, & then after that our growth is now throttled by the most stringent ideotic environmental laws regime on Earth.

6. We were not lucky like China to keep environmental laws regime at bay till such time that the economy reaches a certain stage... & also bridled with incredibly negative socialist minded press which China simply does not allow in the interests of growth for its Citizen....

7. India was also unlucky to initiate "Reforms" a full 2 Decades later than China, & when we started it, the crude prices peaked to about 7-8 times compared to when China started its reforms.... & every infrastructure has "Latent Crude" in it. So we have to work that much harder to create infrastructure... & still WE ARE DOING IT.

8. China is mentioned here because soon as one talks about 1.2 Billion humans, we are compared with China (if they could, then why not India?)

9. The Focus of Government Initiative is time & again diverted towards Terrorism so economic Initiatives take a back seat. Its a unique Country to whome Terrorism has been exported to from its neighborhood since 40 years... & government initiatives are diverted as a result.

10. But despite of all that when we start Big Infrastructure Projects, & such Initiative Busters come to Throttle the Dreams of 12 Billion human beings, then it kinda Pains... & Pains a Lot....

Hope you understand the Aspirations of a Nation, tbe Aspirations of 1.2 Billion Human Beings, the Aspirations of 1/5th of Humanity.....

We Aspire to keep the "Warmth" within us to welcome you with a Sparkling Smile & a Twinkle in the eye whenever you visit us.

Have a nice Weekend !
:)

(& I had no way to make it shorter....)

Some while ago (about 11.40 p.m.) their was news on FM104 in.New Delhi -
1. Few NGO Licenses have been cancelled by Government of India.

2. The Government Officials are quoted as informing that money meant for "Disabled" was being used by NGOs to fund the protests against the Nuclear power Project in Kerela (Protests against India's Development)

3. An expat Shweta informed that one German National is being Deported out of Ibdia for engaging in mischievous activities.

----------- ----------- ----------- -----------

Expats are informing "everyone" over FM radio of which is being heard in all the important cities of India, & nothing is posted here in Expat-blog by any expats in the know?? Conspiracy of Silence??? ;-)

Also heard - there's news in media regarding a NGO filing case in Chenni for Defamation against the Prime Minister of India for making the statement about money being misused by NGOs for protests rather than the porpose for which they were received.

REAL PAINED EH?

Truth hurts !! & hurts bad !!!

I am not in Delhi rightnow (be back after holi) otherwise I'd have located the newspaper & posted the 1st name of the NGO here.

Anybody knows the name of the pained NGO from Chenni?

Any Chenni residents here?

In this above Context, it would be useful reading [to read] at this Forum (expat-blog) a discussion started with a heading :
