Doing business in Laos

Hi,

are foreign investors welcome in Laos?

Is it complicated to register a company in Laos? What is the procedure?

What is the corporate tax rate in Laos?

Is it easy to recruit?

Any advice you would share with us?

Thank you very much for your participation,

Julien

Hi Julian,

The short answer is yes, Laos does welcome foreign investors. It can be complicated, but it depends on what sort of business you want to start or invest in.  Wholly foreign-owned companies are now permitted to register in Laos, but they require a minimum investment of $150,000, or thereabouts.  You might want to check out the following sites.

There are lawyers in Vientiane who speak good English and are familiar with helping foreigners start businesses here if you want to get professional advice.  Try Mekong Law Group.
