can please someone guide me of what the weather is like and if it's ok to walk to the city centre and the old town?

thanks a lot

Hi sophiedeme,

Welcome to Expat.com!

I have moved your topic on the Warsaw forum for better visibility.

Enjoy well your stay.

Hi, I have just moved here from the UK last weekend and was afraid what the weather would be like. Yes it is VERY cold (-16 today) but it is honestly not as cold as I had expected. Its totally not like the UK where everything grinds to a stand still at 0 degrees and a few cms of snow :)  here in Warsaw everyone is just getting on with it. Make sure you bring very warm clothes, very good gloves and a scarf to cover your face if you need to. There hasn't been any wind this week which is making the coldness more bearable at the moment. It is expected to be around -22 friday and saturday though.
I wouldn't let the weather stop me from enjoying Warsaw....plenty hot drinks and alcohol will warm you up ;)
