Everyday clothing - women

Hello -  Can you please tell me what the average everyday clothing is for a non-working woman in her 40s and 50s?  Also, excluding designer labels, what shops in Zurich would be preferable to shop for moderaterly prices women's clothes.  Thanks -

Hi geegiekins and welcome to Expat.com!

Hope that you'll soon be given answers.;)

Hi geegiekins,

Zurich is one of the most expensive town of Switzerland. If you will buy low prices clothes, you have to travel in Germany or in France (1 our with the car).

For low prices, you can go in second hand shop  for exemple:

Most of the commercial center offer a choice of clothes. some center:

Manor, Migros (migros budget = low prices), Globus, Jelmoli, ...

I hope you find what you need.

Hi and welcome to Zurich! Zurich is indeed expensive, but you can still find nice clothes at moderate prices. Most non-working women will wear jeans/denims and a blouse or polo-shirt for everyday life, skirts and leggins layered with a denim or down jacket etc etc. Track suits are not acceptable in public. Buy a magazine like Annabelle, Bolero or SI style, look at the pictures (you don't have to be able to read the text) and you'll know. For moderate price shopping, try Vero Moda, Schild, H&M, C&A, S.Oliver, Bonita, Esprit, Mango, it all also depends on what size you wear. A nice place to go shopping and find many shops close together is Winterthur (20 minutes from Zurich), the town has just been voted 4th best shopping area after Zurich, Geneva and Bern. Why don't you join the American Women's Club Zurich, you'll find many women who are happy to advise you, and during their annual workshop week in March, they usually also have seminars dealing with fashion etc. Have fun!
