COST OF LIVING IN AL RAS KHAIMAH

I have got an offer from a company in Ras al Khaimah for 12000 AED. Expenses for healthcare, transport are all paid by the company. I have a wife and a 2 year old daughter. Is this package enough to make a decent saving? I expect to shift into a 2 bhk apartment with my family within next 6 months, and maybe moving to Ras al Khaimah within 3 months.

Hi there.
I am new to this blog.
I have job offer from Sheikh Khalifa hospital in Ras Al Khaimah.
They offer me AED 25000/ monthly that includes accommodation allowance and transportation as well as the return ticket to point of origin. Free hospital bus to and from Hospital.
Am single lady, and not intended to own a car..non drinker, non smoker and I don't do shopping much either, I am a good cook and not so much into eating out.
Can you tell me if this is a good offer.
I will appreciate if anyone is interested in answering my post.
Zami

Yes it is a decent offer, main cost is accommodation - rents are reasonable in RAK so it should be ok.  Just check with your employer (sponsor) regarding a couple of things.  1) What is the visa title (Arabic wording) that would be - this would determine if you could freely travel within GCC countries (e.g. if you wish to go for a day or two to Oman for sightseeing). 2) Whether you would be eligible for sponsoring any family member (your spouse if you have one, or children, or parents).

Hi Mark
Thanks for your input.
I appreciate your help and advice.
I will look into those areas.
I am informed that I can sponsore spouse and children if I have.

Good day everyone!
I'm Darill from the Philippines planning to work in Ras Alkhaimah as Jr. QC Engineer in Rak Precast.
1st of all is Rak Precast a good company?
2nd, They offered me a package of 4500 Aed (2200 basic pay, 1200 accomodation allowance, 1100 transpo allowance). But in the next line of contract, it was stated that they will provide shared accomodation and back to back transpo.
My agency here in the Philippines told me I will get the 4500aed without deduction. That the employer make it a package with accomodation and transpo for tax purposes (for them to pay lower tax)
Hope to hear from you expats in Ras Alkhaimah!
Have a nice day!

Good enough for a start, especially in RAK as the rental expenses are comparatively low. But I don't think someone can give you an idea about cost of living since it's purely depends on your life style.

Hi All,

I have acquired an idea about living in RAK as an expat thanks to your all comments above.. However, I still have some question marks..

The offer I got is 17.000 AED. I will move with my wife and a 1-year-old boy.

Company is also supprting moving expenses as well.. However, accommdation, and health insurance expenses are not included in the package..

Could you please advise..

- if the health care costs too much (for example, how much does it cost to get my son checked if he is sick?)
- how much do you think I can spent for the electricity, water, telephone, internet, tv..  per month?
- do the companies genarally provide private health insurance for their employees?

Hope to hear from you..

Thanks a lot..
