Greetings

Greetings and a very Happy New Year, everyone!

I would like to know how is the life in Malta for a romanian who would like to live and work there. Is difficult to obtain a work permit? What kind of jobs would a romanian apply for? Is easy to obtain a job if you buy a house in Malta? So many questions... :) I hope to find some answers and thank-you so much for your support!

Hi tina,

welcome to the forum.

If you are a Romanian national you have to apply for a work permit at least until the end of this year. You should check the website of the employment agency www.etc.gov.mt for the current procedure and any future changes for Romanian nationals.

Application and jobs definitly depend on your qualifications as your permit will take labour market considerations into consideration. The job market in Malta for foreigners focuses on finance,IT and igaming jobs preferably for people with language skills. It is hard to compete with the Maltese as many of their jobs are quite low paying and require Maltese language skills.

Buying a house in Malta does not really make it easier to find work except that to buy a house or appartment in Malta you are talking about around 100.000 € to anything over 300.000 € depending on the property. If you have those amounts available life itself in Malta is a lot easier -)))

Cheers
