Babies in Tripoli - health

Dear All

I have been offered a post in Tripoli which I wish to accept. However my wife and I are concerned about the level of health care availble for our 17 month old daughter, paticulary in case of emergencies. What are your thoughts? Is it too risky to bring a 17 month old? Are there many expat children of this age?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Gib,

Which company are you working for? Most Western companies seem to provide health cover at the MediLink Clinic (off Gargaresh Road, close to Regatta). This clinic is Western standard in terms of staff and equipment with emergency cntact numbers. The alternative is St James clinic in downtown Tripoli which is also recommended.

We have a 20 month old daughter and there are many other kids of the same age here.

Dear Sandman

Thanks for your reply.

We have  insurance with Bupa International, I believe that is accepted at St James clinic. Do you know if medilink also cater to individuals with insurance or only to companies that are located in Libya? I have emailed them but no answer.

G

We also have BUPA cover, which is accepted at MediLink so you shouldn't have a problem.

thanks Sandman
