Electric costs

Well been here in Sosua a month now and monthly electric bill at Apt is due.
anyone have any idea what the cost is per unit?

want to make sure Apt. owner, does not "accidently" charge rather more than usual costs!

Also re shopping in Sosua, if purchasing things in some shops without clearly displayed prices, is it usual to get quoted "Gringo" price and worth bargaining?

Electric bills vary depending on usage.  Do you have a meter for your unit?  If not before you signed your lease you should have been told what the cost for electric would be. This all should have been worked out before you moved in. If you did not do this you may be at the mercy of your landlord.

Many stores do not put the prices on the shelf. If it is a major store (like Playero, Casa Nelson, la Sirena etc) you probably won't be able to bargain much. However at furniture stores, and smaller shops bargain away.

Any other questions just ask,

yeah thanks for advice Bob, but looks like its no problem. Did in fact have a meter and I made note of reading, was just wondering about correct unit costs.

Anyway in the morning one of the staff brought me an eletric bill with readings and seems correct-and the amount was actually very small-so no worries :-)

unit apparently is 4.44 per Kwh so not that expensive.

Glad all is ok.
