Medicine Prescriptions

Hi:  Can any one tell me if a prescription is required to buy common pharmaceuticals in Riyadh/KSA.  Thanks.

In very rare occasions that a pharmacist will insist upon providing a prescription. It varies from pharmacy to pharmacy and from pharmacist to pharmacist. Surely they should not sell a medicine until they have a prescription (except on what is available over the counter) but only quite a few pharmacists stick to this "rule"!!

If I know my medication (even if it is antibiotic), I get it without a prescription. I think sometimes it depends on the confidence of the person!

A wide range of medicines are not available in the pharmacies in the first place. For example any sort of sleeping pills (Diazepam)... That's why (may be) the prescriptions are not insisted on.
