Is it safe, is the quality of life ok for westerners?

Hi everyone, I've been considering a job in Luwanda and have a few questions. I've worked all over in the oil and gas industry so I'm pretty savvy. I spent 10 months in Vitoria Brazil and loved it. I know you don't go our alone, where Rolex's, etc but I'm a bit nervous about Luanda really as I know very little about it.

I turned down a job in Nigeria because of the horror stories id heard about Lagos Airport, Is Luanda airport ok? Is it violent or do they have and kidnapping issues. The job is with BP so hopefully they ensure our safety etc.

Can you walk safely in the street, is the food ok?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
