Child care in Mexico

Hi,

when settling in a new country, working parents are mostly concerned about finding child care services for their children.

What can you share with us about the child care system in Mexico ?

How much is daycare in Mexico?

Is the staff qualified at these daycare centers?

What are the usual opening hours?

Do they provide other services at the daycare center?

Any daycare center in Mexico you would like to recommend to other expats? What makes them special?

Thank you for participating! :)

Dear Armand. The State childcare system is usually only for Mexican women who work and have no way to take care of their children themselves. There are also private places where you can leave your children. However, the staff is in most cases, not made of professionals in childcare as in the Western world. Most of the time, daycare places are staffed by a single professional who employs young ladies from universities who do a good job but might not be well prepared to deal with grave emergencies (which fortunately are very uncommon). If you find a daycare place that you like, ask them if they have any private insurance offered for children, if there's any doctor available in case o an emergency, if security protocols in case of fire or emergency are well taught to the staff and if they can deal with them, if they have the government permissions, and so on. Try to get a written response detailing these issues. This will make you feel safer, ask other mothers or fathers about their experience with such daycare place and you will get opinions.

Thanks for your help thebluedeer ;)
