Opening a bank account in Kazakhstan

Hi all,

is it difficult for expats to open a bank account in Kazakhstan ?

Which documents are required to open a bank account in Kazakhstan ?

How long does it take to open it ?

Is there any restriction for expats regarding the services (loans for instance)  ?

Which bank would you recommend ?

Thanks in advance for your participation,

Julien

Well we now have two, the employers decided to change so we have Halyk and Kazcom. Problems initially with round stamps but when they were sorted no problems

Hello,

Bit of a delayed response but maybe you or someone else needs this info. It is not a difficult process at all. To open an account you need a taxpayer ID number. To get this you need to take your passport and migration card to the local tax department. Once the local tax department issues you the taxpayer ID number you can go to any bank and open an account. Once again make sure to have your passport and migration card with you. In all it took me about 3 days and that was just waiting for my tax ID to be processed.

There are many large banks here so just take your pick. I use BTA bank and am happy with the service.

I am not sure about the regulations surrounding loans and foreigners.
