Hello,
I am a Canadian and my girlfriend is Romanian. We are considering buying an apartment together in Bucharest. What are the laws for foreign ownership in Romania. We would like to have the apartment on both our names, is this possible? Any other information or advice on buying an apartment would be very helpful.

Hi,
As far as I know there is no problem with your buying the apartment. The laws about foreign ownership extend only to land. The only slight 'complication' is that when you buy the apartment you'll also buy a small area of land underneath the block. Technically you won't be able to buy that (although your girlfriend will). Co-ownership shouldn't be a problem either.
