Public transportation in Cuenca

Hi Armand,

Transport service in Cuenca is ok, but compared to Guayaquil and Quito is great.
The bus service belongs to the City, the buses are fine and fare is 25 cents.
Taxis are OK, if you are a tourist you have to negotiate the trip fare before jump in the cab. They drive like crazy.

Transit is OK in most of the city but not in peak hours and expect delays in the downtown most of the day.

The worst about the bus transportation is the big amount of smog they created. it's really disgusting.

Armand, the main form of transportation most gringos use is their feet!  As Vinny said, buses are 25 cents and go everywhere.  You can pick up a book showing all the routes in the tourist office at Parque Calderon.  Taxi fares are usually either $1.50 or $2.00.  Both buses and taxis are safe.  On buses keep personal belongings close to keep anyone from being tempted.  Everywhere you go dress conservatively and keep a low profile for the same reason.
