Hi I am trying to find out in detail what I need to do to move to Finland. I plan on moving there in about 4 to 5 months as soon as my semester is over at the college I am going to. I have met the man of my dreams and we are engaged but he lives in Finland and I live in the States. I will also be bringing with 1 dog and 3 possibly 4 cats. So if someone could send me a detailed check list (seeing as how I am really good with check lists) on how to accomplish my goal to be with the man I love I would be very happy.

First you need a visa. For you to get a residence permit you need to be a student, a worker (you need to have the job before you come), or you need to be an au pair. Family ties do not count unless you are directly related to a finnish person, so in your case, until you get married you do not get residence permit based on family ties. Get in contact with the finnish embassy.
