Hello,

I'm going to come in Edinburgh for language studies abroad.
Is Edinburgh a safety city (day and night) ?

I come from Switzerland and I speak french. Geneva, Basel or Lausanne are similar to Edinburgh for number of inhabitants.

We don't have some violence problem like Paris or London where some district are in possession of the offenders. But we can meet by accident very brutal group anywhere in the city.

Can you describe the situation of safety in Edinburgh ? Is it safe if I come back home alone on foot. Do you advice me to come back with a taxi ?

Hey Swissboy!
I've been to Edinburgh several times, and I can say that it's quite safe. I often took the late train (I lived between Dundee and Aberdeen), and went out quite a while without any problems, and I'm a girl, so...
Hope you will enjoy Edinburgh, it's a really (really) nice town.
