Irish teacher immigrating to Quebec

Hello everyone,

I'm immigrating to Canada, hopefully Quebec. I am still in Ireland and I've begun to trawl the internet re: a permanent visa.

It's so daunting and I would really appreciate some help from Irish people who have settled in Quebec.

I am a qualified secondary school teacher of Spanish and English. It appears that one of the requirements of the visa application process is that I would need to have a job set up before leaving Ireland but this seems really difficult because why should an employer employ me without having interviewed me face to face?????

I'm confused and I'd hugely appreciate any kind of guidance on offer.

Chat to yee soon hopefully

Hi Lisa O,

Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.I am not a PR in Quebec but am also hoping to submit an application in the near future. It's a bit of a minefield and takes a LOT of research and preparation.I see you have Spanish and English but having lived in Montreal and Quebec city myself it is absolutely necessary to have a decent level of French. What makes things a little trickier is the Quebec flavor of the language which is a far cry from what they speak in France or is taught in Irish schools and even the Alliance Francaise. I am assuming you have researched it a bit yourself already and have a certain level of French given that you are fluent in Spanish. But just as a tip I would recommend listening to Quebec radio online (I usually listen to Radio Canada but there are others in the province) to get a feel for the accent. Proficiency in French can really make or break an immigration application in Quebec and it can be torturous to learn it so I'd get into it asap if I was you. Given that you are a language teacher you'll probably fare better than most and could pick it up quick!!
Bonne chance!!

he says: I'm immigrating to Canada, hopefully Quebec. I am still in Ireland and I've begun to trawl the internet re: a permanent visa.

so QUEBEC..:)..that's beside Canadawide (by the way is nothing CANADA WIDE..as it show from here is something for FEDERAL and then is Quebec).

So Canada Wide..is one thing..the other thing for Quebec is different because they have a WIDER list of OCCUPATIONS that they allow to come in.

And then is PROVINCIAL NOMINEE..

So FYI..thank you,.
