The ideal candidate must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, a seasoned and highly intelligent hospitality professional with outstanding, management skills and extensive hands-on experience. Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
The General manager is responsible for overseeing day to day operations, effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision making to attain desirable profit-making results. He / She should be an ambassador for the brand and hostel. Provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of our service culture, maximized operations and guest satisfaction. Work very closely with the hostel owners.
Responsible for managing the hostel’s management team and overall hostel targets to deliver an excellent guest experience. Manage between profitability and guest satisfaction measures. Proven ability to create business growth through innovative and creative ways

• Oversee the operations functions of the hostel.
• Provide effective leadership to hotel team members.
• Hold regular briefings and meetings with all head of departments.
• Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads on a daily basis.
• Coordination with head of departments for the execution of all activities and functions.
• Manage and develop the hostel executive team to ensure career progression and development.
• Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints.
• Hold biannual staff reviews alongside Nicaverde President.
• Ensure full compliance to hostel operating controls, standard operations procedures, policies, and service standards.
• Lead all key property infrastructure issues including new projects, maintenance and repairs.
• Handling complaints, and oversee the service recovery procedures.
• Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotel's annual operating and capital budget.
• Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded.
• Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the business.
• Deliver hostel budget goals and set other short and long term strategic goals for the property.
• Developing improvement actions, carry out costs savings.
• Oversee profit and loss statements and react with impactful strategies.
• Closely monitor the hotels business reports and take decisions accordingly.
• Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General are on target and accurate.
• Maximizing room yield and hostel’s revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs.
• Prepare a monthly financial reporting for the shareholders
• Draw up plans and budget (revenues, costs, etc.) for the shareholders.
• Help in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment, and contracting third-party vendors for essential equipment and services.
• Act in collaboration with Nicaverde President in hiring/firing staff.
• Lead in all aspects of business planning.
• Work alongside legal representative for legalization, Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements.
A university degree or college diploma in hospitality management or a related field with experience in opening, managing or re-positioning a hostel with clear track record. Excellent computer system skills.
At least 6 years’ experience as staff in the hospitality industry, with international experience preferred, ideally including experience in remote locations. 3 years’ experience in management within the hospitality industry.
