Wondering what are the means of transport available in Bordeaux? Find out in this article.
Whether you are going to live or work in Bordeaux, traveling will probably be part of your everyday life. The city's inhabitant are entitled to a developed transport network which is known as the Tram et Bus de la CUB (TBC). This system includes the tramway, bus, Vcub, BatCub, etc. But you can also wander around Bordeaux by car, bike, or on foot.
In total, you can choose from:
- 3 tramway lines – A, B and C which stretch over 58 km
- 100 trams, which is the biggest fleet in France
- 78 bus lines and 401 buses, including 30 hybrid buses and 6 electric shuttles
- 20 night bus lines on the TBC network – 13 Lianes, 6 Flexo night line and line 58
- 1,700 self-service bikes (Vcub) in 164 stations
- 20 parking lots with around 5,500 parking spaces
- 2 water taxis (BatCub).
Bordeaux's tramway system can take you anywhere across the city.

- Arrival: La Gardette Bassens Carbon Blanc / Floirac Dravemont
- Traffic flow: 5 am to midnight (1.5 am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday)
- Departure: Berges de la Garonne / Bassins à Flot
- Arrival: Pessac Centre / France Alouette
- Traffic flow: 5 am to 0.40 am (1.40 am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday)
- Departure: Bordeaux Parc des Expositions/Cracovie
- Arrival: Gare de Bègles / Lycée Václav Havel
- Traffic flow: 5 am to midnight (1h on Thursday, Friday and Saturday)
Bordeaux's bus network comprises the following:
Line 3 Lianes (namely Lines 1, 3 and 8) with specially equipped vehicles for the disabled. These buses are available from 5 am to 1 am the next day and midnight on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Line 9 Lianes (namely Lines 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 15) which circulate from 5 am to 1 am the next day and midnight on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bordeaux also host 65 lines which are available from 5 am to 9 pm, as well as an electric shuttle which operates mainly in the city-center.
Bat³ are water taxis. The network consists of two catamarans which serve 4 routes. These can also take you directly to 3 tramway lines. Water taxis are available on a daily basis from 7 am to 7 pm.
V³ are self-service bikes. The bike park is available 24/7 in the whole area. You can thus go biking anytime you want.
The Tickarte Jour will allow you to travel by tramway, bus, Batcub and access to the parking lots which are close to the tramway network. You can choose from two formula: the daily package which costs 4.60 Euros and the weekly package which costs 12.40 Euros.
The Tickarte Voyage will allow you to travel by tramway, bus and Batcub for an hour following the first validation. Several packages are available: at 1.50 Euros for a single trip, 6.70 Euros for 5 trips and 12.40 Euros for 10 trips.
The Tickarte 7 jours - Hebdo is designed for more than 14 years old people. It will allow you to travel by tramway, bus, Batcub, access to parking lots that are close to the tramway network, use Vcub bikes for a total of 7 days as from the purchase date. It costs 13.20 Euros.
The Tickarte - Plus de 60 ans is ideal for more than 60 years old people. It will allow you to travel by tramway, bus or Batcub free or charge or at a preferential rate. However, conditions apply.
The Tickarte - Famille Nombreuse is available in two formula but at the same price, that is 7.10 Euros for 10 trips. You can access to the tramway, bus and Batcub at reduced rates if you live in Bordeaux and you have 3 less than 18 years old children. However, you will lose your right to the reduced rate once your elder child turns 18. If you live in Bordeaux Metropolis with 5 children or more, you will be eligible to unlimited access to the tramway, bus and Batcub. As regards your less than 18 years old children, they will be entitled to reduced rates as long as three of them are still minors.
The Tickarte Parc-Relais is ideal for those who wish to park their car in a parking lot to board the tramway. This ticket costs 4.50 Euros a day and will allow you to park your car and enjoy a return trip by tramway. If you have any passengers with you (a maximum of 5), they will be able to use the same 4.50 Euros ticket.
The Pass Soirée will allow you to move freely with all the means of transport available in the city from 7 pm to 7 am the next day. It will also allow you to park your vehicle in the parking lot of your choice as from 7 pm until its closing time.
VCub - Codes d'accès, for its part, is a bike rental system designed for more than 14 years old people. The 24 hours ticket costs 1.50 Euros while the weekly ticket costs 7 Euros. Note that the first 30 minutes are free of charge, but once the ticket has expired, you will pay 2 Euros per additional hour.
