Senegal is very open towards young graduates and professionals seeking new opportunities in West Africa. Hence, it should not be difficult for you to find what you are looking for.

Promising sectors

As a foreigner, you are more likely to find internship prospects in the following fields: agriculture, agribusiness, tourism, seafood, aquaculture, information and communication technology, tele-services, health, renewable energy, mining and geology which are deemed to be the country's main economic growth sectors.

Find an internship

Senegal hosts not only major European and international subsidiaries but also many national and local companies. Hence, internship opportunities may be available anywhere and not just in the country's major cities. Moreover, many Senegalese have also managed to set up their own business due to their strong ambition and determination.

Les Grands Moulins de Dakar (GMD), the Senegal Chemical Industries and the Senegalese Sugar Company are some of the major companies you will find in Senegal.

Apply for an internship

To apply for an internship, sending a motivation letter to the company's Human Resource Department is not compulsory. In fact, you are more likely to get in touch with them by phone or by fax as letters could easily get lost. You might as well send them an email, but a personal contact should be more appropriate, especially to show your interest in the company.
