THE ESKIES regularly sell out 500 capacity venues in Dublin, and have appeared on "Saturday Night Live" which is on prime time RTE TV in Ireland. Their debut album "When The Sherry Went Round" even briefly knocked Hozier, Taylor Swift and That's What I Call Music 90 off the top of the iTunes Charts when it was released!
Though they describe themselves as sea soaked gypsy folk noir, their music is almost impossible to describe, you just need to give it a go. It might take a couple of listens before you realise how fab they are! If you come along to this show you will definitely have a wild night, have a dance, and won't be disappointed!
Hailing from the Dublin suburbs of Tallaght and Donaghmede, The Eskies have done things the traditional way; hitting the road in a clapped-out van in search of adventure, and playing countless shows around Ireland and Europe. Their unique brand of sea soaked, gypsy folk noir meanders from sea shanty, to jaunty Italian tarantella, to brassy funeral march-esque lament to weep along Klezmar knees up, from chain gang holler to rag time finger snap. Skipping through the dark side of anything that makes you want to dance, steeped in melodrama and usually with not a small amount of tongue in cheek.
Support comes from country, folk, punk six piece THE SUNRISE SET whose debut album "Cast A Crooked Shadow" is out now
