We are now witnessing the highest levels of displacement on record. An unprecedented 65.6 million people around the world have been forced from home. Among them are nearly 22.5 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18. There are also 10 million stateless people who have been denied a nationality and access to basic rights such as education, healthcare, employment and freedom of movement. In a world where nearly 20 people are forcibly displaced every minute as a result of conflict or persecution. In this context the work of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is more important than ever before.

During this expert talk UNHCR representatives Claire Bourgeois and Natalia Prokopchuk will share their first hand experiences and speak about forced displacement, refugees, new unfolding emergencies and protracted refugee situations and you will have a chance to learn about this phenomenon and ask questions.

Claire Bourgeois has an extensive humanitarian experience, she had been working for Medicines Sans Frontiers, UNHCR and UN. She had been leading complex UN operations in the most remote and dangerous field locations, including Chad, Central African Republic, Iraq, Yemen and others. She also hold senior positions in the UNHCR HQs in Geneva.
