Beijing comedy scene

Calling all ex-pats! The Beijing comedy scene is growing fast. There are now THREE regular open mic slots where comedians from all over the world perform and anybody who wants to try can have a go.

Monday is the newest night having just started this week at the new Schiller's Bar this event is organised by the Weilaugh Comedy Club, who also run the more established night at Paddy O'Sheas Bar and Restaurant. Schiller's comedy is on Mondays in the upstairs lounge with comfortable seating and great food. The fun starts at around 8.30pm.

Paddy O'Sheas comedy night is on Tuesdays starting about 8.45pm and is always busy. As well as the comedy there is a choice of Indian food from the Ganges Restaurant upstairs who bring it down to your table or Paddy's own Western style food including great pizzas. Paddy's is on Outer Dongzhimen Street and is reachable by Metro lines 2, 13 or 10.

The third regular night is at Hot Cat in Andingmen (line 2) and is the longest established night and run by the China Comedy Club (CCC). This one starts early with Chinese language comedians and then the English speaking comedians start at about 8.45pm. Hard to find but worth it.
