Desperate English Housewife in Washington

I%u2019m your UK Desperate Housewife in the USA and this is my blog. It%u2019s all about me, how I feel about moving to and living in the USA, and what life is like out here. New York 180 It%u2019s a little bit adventure, little bit stream of consciousness, little bit Bill Bryson. I%u2019m an %u2018expat%u2019 who is pretty much seizing every opportunity I can in this strange and wonderful country (whilst also being a mother, wife and rather rubbish housewife.) I%u2019ll be debunking myths and probably confirming some cliches that we Brits have about America and Americans. After all, what we know, or think we know, is generally from movies and TV series%u2026.. Throughout the blog I%u2019ll share the things that amuse, confuse and bemuse me %u2013 and lots of stuff does! Am I a dreamer%u2026.? Yes! Would I like to go on Good Morning America every Friday for an update on my week in the merry old Land of Big Macs? Yes! Would I like to write a column for the Washington Post / Marie Claire all about these adventures? Yes, yes please! But right now, everything I see, feel and experience will be blogged about so I can share it with you. It%u2019s a journey, and my eyes and mind are open for anything and everything. Particularly amusing and enlightening during the journey so far is the cultural comparison between the USA and the UK because, believe me, we Brits also have very curious traditions and quirky views on life too%u2026.! I hope you feel inspired to leave some comments and join in the chat/chinwag about my blog. Tell me about places to go and see, ask me questions, and share your tales the USofA, or even the UK. Happy reading, lovely peeps. UKHousewifeUSA

Living the Nomadic Life

Musings on blooming where I'm planted. I%u2019m from Europe (by birth and ancestry), from Asia (by having lived most years of my life there) and from North America (by culture and education). I%u2019m from everywhere and nowhere. My life is in constant change, a bundle of contradictions and my story is layered and complex. This is the place I try to sort out my thoughts and share my stories.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam

Hello everyone, I am girl from India, and for the purpose of anonymity for now lets call me %u201CR%u201D. I moved to US of A 4.5 years ago to fulfill my lifetime goal and my parents dream of being a doctor here. I don%u2019t want to sugar coat it. My life%u2019s been rough both on professional and personal fronts. I made several mistakes and learned some costly lessons that almost cost me my life. I lived a great part of my life in darkness and fear, and finally I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Initially I just wanted to make a blog where I could talk about my relationship with my boyfriend, (lets call him %u201CD%u201D for now,) but I realized that my story is much more than our struggle for my parents%u2019 acceptance. Don%u2019t get me wrong, my boyfriend is one of the four most precious people in my life right now, others being my parents and my brother. I think my life%u2019s always been very complicated, and I am stuck in spiders web. I want this blog to represent who I am, to be an inspiration to people like me who have no one to talk to, who had to lose everything they were before they could find themselves again. So in a nut shell this blog will be about our relationship, my family, my professional struggle and my general world view. So, welcome to my world y%u2019all. I hope you will have as much fun reading it as I have living it. lol. -R. PS: Raina is not my real name.

I'm an English Expat who is currently living in LA-LA land. I work in a Corporate Castle and as Castles go, it is pretty inspiring. The management is forward thinking, and the quality of work life is high. I am a project manager by day and a blogger by night. I share my life with a Red who he battles dragons for me! We live on the Westside of LA, close enough to the beach to get the summer breeze. We are here for the sunshine and opportunities, but we love to travel. http://www.rovingJay.com is my observations about: Expat Life in LA; Global Travel Adventures; The joys of buying and managing a property in Turkey; and random musings.

NW3 to NYC

We made a decision in August 2012 to move our family from London to New York for career reasons. We think it will be for two years but who knows. Given the enormity of doing this with young children I thought it would be fun to record the experience. I want to do this with humour: amusing myself and others as the differences between the UK and the US reveal themselves. I am NYC newbie.
