Easy, I just bought a plane ticket and moved. If you don't have a job lined up before you go then obviously you must have some money to keep you going for a few months while you look for work, sign up with agencies, etc. You'll also need to get used to how life and work is here so that can take a while. Of course, you must have a visa to work. You might expect to temp a bit before you get the job you want but that depends on how good or bad your resume is. Also the economy should be better in 2 years so employers should be hiring foreigners. Looking for work is hard enough anyway but it's even harder in a foreign country so just make sure you have money in the bank and most of all make some contacts while you are here. Without contacts it's very hard to get anywhere. Join expat groups and meet these people to ask advice. This is gold. I actually just wrote The Expat Info desk guide to Los Angeles. You can Google it. Basically, just make contacts here. That's the best advice I can give -meet other Brits.
