Hi everyone, im new to this site. Great reading all the stories and peoples experiences. I lived in Cebu for four years but now live in Dumaguete. I have houses there at affordable prices. Just P2m for a new home. I just thought i would put the idea of Dumaguete out there for people to consider. We have everything we need but a much more cleaner and relaxed way of living. Also great schools for my son. We moved from Cebu City as it was getting too crowded and the traffic chaotic. Hope this suggestion gives people something to think about :-)

From what I see Dumaguete is one beautiful city. I would like to visit there some day soon. We will be moving into a new home in CarCar City about an hour south of Cebu City.

Ive been through Carcar but only stopped for a drink on my way to Cebu. Im sure you would love your visit to Dumaguete. Some nice restaurants, beaches, Twin Lakes and nature walks. Also great dive sites and protected reefs for snorkelling.

We are planning to retire to the Philippines and Mactan is one of the places we are considering. Is real estate in Mactan same as in Cebu? We do not like to build - are there existing homes/condos for sale or you have to buy off development plans?

Where to start ?? I am so looking forward to moving there. I plan on only bringing my personal items, any materialistic things will not be making to move. I figure all that can be replaced in time. As I said my Gf is working as a nurse and my income will be in the neighborhood of 50,000 pesos at todays exchange rate, a little over. I am hopeing with the combined income, we could live a simple but comfortable lifestye. I am in California now and I hate it. Is it difficult to have social security income transferred there, or should one open an account afetr arriving there, I have no idea how to accomplish this, that's why I want to make sure I begin early. And how about establishing permenent residency there. I should probablly just send an email to you and try to get it all in there, but I know there will be a million questions in the meantime. I sure appreciate any and all help you could give me. Thanks again

Hi Ron, noticed you met my good friend Larry Haydon in Bantayan Island one beautiful coral island near Cebu. It\'s only a one hour ferry ride from Cebu the second largest city in the Philippines. We have just purchased two homes here mostly for investment reasons but will live in one of them permanently just south of Cebu City in CarCar City about an hour ride up to Cebu City.

Hi Charlie, always good to greet a fellow Texan living here in the Philippines. I have just now come across your blog and have enjoyed it sio far. My wife and I are currently retired in her hometown of Baybay, just a SUPER CAT ride away from Cebu. Keep up the good work.
